As an NA player with a decent amount of friends in EU I hope I would be able to play with them
Well, it's just cause they said that the russian publisher bought the rights to publish BDO in these regions or something. The thing is, we do NOT even speak russian language. We CAN'T even use english patches cause they blocked them or something. How are we even supposed to play a game that we don't understand a thing in it? I'll be really sad if this scenario repeats itself with A:IR. Though it probably will.
Guys, we going same discussion as in BDO. I think region's will be same like in BDO.
If a company only has rights to publish in certain areas, then their only real option is a region lock.
Imagine if they made it so anyone would download and play, and then (for example purposes) let us say a Russian company purchased the rights to licence the game in Russia, there would then be an issue and Kakao would then most likely need to add a Region Lock to the players playing from that region, meaning everything you had gained up until that point would be gone.
I am not saying that I would like a region lock, in fact, I'm entirely against it - Region locks are not fun for anyone, definitely if you have friends from all part of the world, but sometimes companies cannot get around this.
I am hoping that Kakao Games goes after the rest of the world for the release of A:IR so everyone has the choice to play together, whether they be from England, Russia, Israel, Netherlands, etc.
I can say is no region blocking. i want to play to with my friends who are overseas
There's a lot of legal issues than you think about these region locks.
Sadly Bluehole doesnt use region lock. The best example is PLAYERUNKNOWN BATTLEGROUNDS. Ever since the release of 1.0 there as been invasions of chinese players on NA servers , which brings lots of latenmcy issue and desync. Bluehole stated they would not region lock. I assume the same will be happening here, It might be different for a MMORPG tho , i hope im wrong
Right, but Kakao is publishing the game for Oceania, NA and EU. Being a publisher is different from being a developer. Bluehole is the dev. Kakao is the publisher.
i just hope they don't make this **** again in here , i've always wanted to play bdo from algeria ( north africa ) never had an option but to use a vpn until they blocked it ,
currently am at france but am just hopping they don't make it again in here , since i aksed the game's support in facebook they said they still don't know and they'll publish the roadmap later on ..
I hope your right xD
Even I don't want, there will be region lock;so we Turkish players cannot this game too again like BDO... I probably return back to Archeage. Sick of this region lock thing... Look at BDO ? it is dead game as the Archeage. If thy make region lock which thy will do, thy will ruin AIR too...
I made this topic long time ago too in this forum:
let's hope that this game will not have a region block. i have many friends outside NA, EU & Oceania wants to play this game. the ip restriction thing is the request of the developer i think. look at black desert, they expand to another regions that's why they have ip restriction outside kakao games service areas. The developers of the game ( Pearl Abyss ) request it to have ip restriction it is not the publishers fault ( kakao games ) . For the AIR the decision is on bluehole.
Perhaps you should be emailing Netmarble about acquiring the MENA license. Are there vocal grassroots BDO or A:IR communities in MENA? If there is no perceived demand, publishers won't take the risk.
my friends in south east asia. they can play tera in there so bluehole won't put region lock. The region lock in black desert is not kakao games fault it is from their developer Pearl Abyss.
the people who is frequent/mainly focus on pvp and not in the other aspects of the game wants region lock
Please, don't block Georgia, We don't speak or read Russian and wont be able to play the game at all. We are part of Europe. Our gamer community speaks and reads English. I won't be raising political issues we have with Russia. I am eager to play with EU guild that I have played a lot of games with.
